Local Attractions
The Eau Claire area (Calvin Township) is rural in nature, with many great local outdoor activities you can plan on doing during your stay.
Our home’s road, Peddlers Drive, is paved and suitable for biking. There are hiking, snowshoeing, and mountain biking areas nearby - on our own 68 acres of land, the Eau Claire Gorge, or Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park.
If you would like to visit some local shops, the town of Mattawa is located 20 minutes east of us, and Maxwell Pottery is only 7 km away, on the way to highway 17.
For canoeing and camping, the Talon Chutes (famous for cliff-jumping and swimming), are accessible from Pimisi Bay. Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park and the Canadian Ecology Centre are less than 10 km away, and the Kiosk campground/access to Algonquin Park is located 30 km away. Canoe rentals are available at the nearby Algonquin North Outfitters.
During the winter, Antoine Mountain ski resort is located 24 km away, and there are many snowmobiling, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing opportunities in the area.
